Biography
Jennifer Bender is a Boston-based environmental scientist actively involved in bridging gaps between scientists, policy makers, the public and other stakeholders when it comes to issues relating to the marine environment and our coastal zones. She serves as the executive director of the Marine Studies Consortium which offers courses in marine and aquatic sciences and other topics. She also writes on issues pertaining to the environment for Edible Vineyard on Healthy Oceans and To Market Magazine online. Jennifer Bender consults to a variety of organizations, including the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Foundation and Stellwagen Alive: A Foundation for Our National Marine Sanctuary, Fablevision, the Beacon Institute for Rivers and Estuaries. She sits on the Boards of Sea-Ahead, Pleiades and is a scientific advisor to E25Bio.
At UMass Boston School for the Environment, Bender leads the online program in aquaculture as well as the graduate Environmental Innovation Clinic. Jennifer hold's a Master's degree in Administration and a Ph.D. In Geography and Environmental Science. She has an initial faculty appointment in the Boston University marine program.
